Can anyone help please? ?

I only have one account, which is my administrative account, and the guest account is turned off. For some reason, it now shows two accounts at the startup screen. I never made a new one, but the second account seems to be an exact replica of my main account. It doesn't seem to matter which one I log into, and changes in one affect both. I went to manage the user accounts and it tells me there is still only one account. It is as if the account login screen has a duplicate "shortcut." Can some one tell me what is going on?
